Doubles Dice Drinking Game

Best played by just 2 people (21 years old or older).

Starting Materials: Beer and 2 dice.

Object of the game: To "own" doubles and make the other person drink.

Opening: Each person rolls one die simultaneously. The first person to roll a "6" gets to start the game by rolling 2 dice; in case of tie, each person continues to roll one die until there is a clearcut winner with a "6".

The play:

1. The starter rolls 2 dice. If he gets a double, he "owns" that double and the other person has to drink that number of sips of beer. For example, if a person is the first one to roll a double "4", he "owns" the "4's" and the other person has to drink 4 sips of beer. Each time the person rolls the number(s) he "owns", the other person has to drink.

2. If a person fails to roll a double, the dice go to the opponent.

3. Like in MONOPOLY, when a person rolls a double, he gets to roll again and continues to roll with every subsequent double (there is no JAIL or other penalty for rolling 3 or more doubles in a row).

4. If a person rolls the other person's double, they both have to drink that number. In the above example of double "4's", if the non-owner rolls double "4's", both persons drink 4 sips.

5. The play continues until each of the six doubles is owned. The "winner" is the one whose total of owned doubles adds up to "11" or more.

6. In case of a "sweep" of all six doubles by one person, a mutually agreeable "penalty" may be imposed on the loser. However, the penalty should be the same throughout all of the games and agreed upon at the outset of the games. (For example, the loser might have to buy all subsequent beer.)

7. Play continues until each of the six doubles gets "owned." The person to get the last double of the six gets to start the new game, and the process starts all over again.

8. After the first game, it is recommended that someone write down the doubles owned by each person in subsequent games because memory surely may fail after a while!

                     Things I Like About Buffalo

Allentown2008.jpgAllentown_Brochure.jpgAllentown_2007.jpg

In early June, nearly 300,000 people attend the Allentown Art Festival, where about 400 artists display their creations. The 50th, of course, was held in 2007.

Picture043A.jpgHPIM1925.jpg

Summer wouldn’t be complete without being on Lake Erie, the Niagara River, and the Erie Canal on my son Rick's (and his wife, Nancy’s) boat. Lake Erie gets as warm as the mid- to upper 70º's F in the Summer, by August.  Being the shallowest of the Great Lakes, Lake Erie generally freezes over by mid-Winter, effectively stopping "Lake-effect snows.

In July 2008, a bunch of us took a ride on the Whirlpool Jet Boat, out of Lewiston, NY. The Whirlpool  is "below" Niagara Falls. Definitely worth the trip!  Prepare to get drenched if you go! Unfortunately, a young girl was swept from the shore, and into the Whirlpool a short time after this picture, and died.

Lennart, a German exchange student from Hamburg, at the 2013 Buffalo Chicken Wing Fest,  just a few days after he arrived.  It was the 12th annual event. (lower).

The Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day Weekend is the Buffalo Chicken Wing Fest at Coca-Cola Field (Home of the Buffalo Bisons baseball team of the IL). You get to sample wings not just from Buffalo's famous (original) Anchor Bar, but also from Denver, Atlanta, New Orleans, etc.

And, of course, there's always the Taste of Buffalo in mid-July, too. Yum!

Easter_Eggs_Dye_2014.jpg

The tradition of using Doc Hinkle's Egg Dye (from Hinkle's Drug Store in Columbia, Lancaster County, PA), using HOT eggs, continues in Buffalo, NY.

This was taken at my place on Holy Saturday 2014.

(L - R) Richard J. Fischer, son Richard J. Loster, his wife Nancy Bartha Loster, and grandson-in-law Adrian Alvarez.

2 great grandsons, 5 and 7 years old (not pictured), each did one egg also, but the eggs were likely too hot for them, and they resumed to playing with their toys, and their cousin (great granddaughter).
